Understand the Principles. Improve Your Performance.
Course Overview
Pistol Operator is a 5-hour course designed for shooters who already demonstrate safe firearm handling and can operate their pistol without instructor assistance.
Rather than teaching a collection of shooting techniques, this course develops a repeatable shooting process built on three primary performance drivers: grip, trigger press, and vision. Through structured live-fire training, students learn how these fundamentals influence recoil, sight behavior, target accountability, and overall shooting performance.
Instruction follows a performance-based, diagnostic methodology. Students learn to observe the firearm's behavior, interpret target feedback, identify performance deficiencies, and apply purposeful corrections. Each training block builds on the previous one, progressing from isolated fundamentals to integrated shooting skills, reactive engagements, and target transitions.
Range time is dedicated to skills that require live fire. Dry fire is incorporated only when appropriate to introduce and reinforce new concepts before confirming them under recoil. The emphasis is not on shooting more rounds—it is on understanding why the firearm behaves the way it does and developing a repeatable process that supports long-term improvement.
Whether your goal is personal development, competition, or professional application, Pistol Operator provides a structured framework that allows students to continue diagnosing and improving their performance long after the course is complete.
Training Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Apply the principles of practical pistol marksmanship to produce accurate, accountable hits.
Develop a grip that is consistent, stable, and durable throughout the shooting process.
Execute an efficient trigger press without unnecessarily disturbing the sights.
Maintain target-focused vision while observing sight movement throughout recoil.
Understand how grip, trigger press, and vision work together to produce predictable firearm behavior.
Select the appropriate aiming scheme and visual confirmation based on the required level of accountability.
Efficiently transition between multiple targets by leading with the eyes and driving the pistol to the line of sight.
Diagnose performance by evaluating firearm behavior, sight movement, and target feedback to make meaningful corrections.
Develop a repeatable training process that supports continued improvement beyond the course.
Prerequisites
Pistol Operator is designed for shooters who possess basic firearm safety knowledge and can safely operate a handgun without instructor assistance.
Prior to participating in live-fire training, students must be able to:
Present a valid state or federal photo identification.
Complete and sign the required Hold Harmless Agreement.
Demonstrate safe firearm handling throughout the course.
Safely load, unload, fire, reload, and clear common handgun malfunctions without instructor assistance.
Advanced shooting skills, speed, and prior formal training are not required. Students are simply expected to perform these fundamental tasks safely and independently so that range time can be dedicated to developing practical marksmanship rather than teaching basic firearm operation.
Students who are unable to safely demonstrate these prerequisite skills may not be permitted to participate in the live-fire portion of the course at the instructor's discretion.

Students are responsible for providing the following equipment:
Reliable semi-automatic pistol (micro pistols are not recommended)
